Argh!

Well, it is official. We have a "Pirip" aka a pirate in our house. Colby went for his follow up visit to the eye doctor on Wednesday. As we thought, his eye sight in his left eye is not great, almost nothing. So, we are patching his good eye to hopefully strengthen the left eye and get the brain to start recognizing it and using it. But we only are patching it for about 15-20 minutes in the morning and then again right before dinner. Hopefully this works!

This weekend we will be VERY busy. We are heading to Lake Warmaug later today for a little sun, boating, fishing, and maybe even swimming. Tomorrow Mike and I have a wedding to go to so Colby will spend the day with Grandma and Grandpa C. Sunday and Monday we have parades and Monday we also have a picnic. Hopefully we make it this year. Last year Colby was so tired we didn't go to the picnic. So, I will post pics of our weekend soon. Hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day. And don't forget to thank your soldiers, young and old.

Let's Go Fly A Kite

This Saturday we went to Harkness Park, down on the ocean. Our adoption agency holds different events during the year and this was the one in CT. We met many new friends and had a great time. It turned out to be nice weather, warm but not too hot and windy. Perfect to fly a kite! I hope that next month we can get to the event in Rhode Island too!

Here are a few photos. Colby took many of them. He loves the camera. He took a lot of our new friends Karin and Cynthia. They and their husbands are "waiting" families. Their initial paperwork is complete and they are waiting for a referal. Cynthia for a referal to Russia and Karin for a domestic adoption referal. Hope they hear the good news soon!

I'm Not Tired!

This is what happens when we go to the park and don't take a nap when we get home!

Fun Happenings

We have been quite busy lately so it was nice to have last weekend home with no plans. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great Saturday, very windy. Thankfully Sunday was beautiful. Colby had fun playing outside with the neighbors, Vanessa (Nessa) and Christopher. Nessa is 8 and Christopher is 4. Nessa had two friends with her that live on our street as well. Brooke is 7 I think and Senta is 9. All five kids were playing in our yard on the swing set. Mike adn I were doing yardwork. I am trying to get my garden ready to plant. Some perennials and annuals but we also plant a few vegetable. Any suggestions? It was a nice afternoon watching the kids, even having to step in to patch a few quarrels. It seems the girls don't always share. At one point I just stepped back and watched and the thought came to me that, yes, I am the mom. I know odd thought since Colby's been home over a year. But this was the first time we had neighbor kids over. It just felt nice.

We are also now done with birthday, celebration season, for now. We celebrated Colby's birthday, then it was Mother's Day, and then my birthday. We are definitely caked, goodied out. My sister Kristin had bought Colby baloons for his birthday when we celebrated it on May 1st. Most of the balloons deflated by the next day. This one balloon kept going and going. It stayed up forever. Just the other night Mike, Colby, and I were playing with it. Colby was trying to pop it and just couldn't. It was one tough balloon. I had him jump up and down on it, stand on it, sit on it, but nope. We played with it for almost an hour hitting it back and forth. At one point Colby held it to his stomach and ran towards me like a charging bull. Still didn't pop! Eventually, it was time for bed and Colby asked Daddy to pop it. It took Mike with his work boots on to jump with both feet onto it to finally pop it. But boy was it fun! Even Misha got in on the fun!

This weekend we are heading to Harkness Park on the beach to a Wide Horizons event. Our adoption agency has different cultural or adoption group events. The CT one is this weekend. It is a kite flying and picnic event. I can't wait. I know of one other family that we know and a couple we know who are waiting for their referal that are going. It should be a lot of fun. And I hope to get lots of pics and meet lots of new friends.

A Few Good Pics and a Birthday Too

Ok. So today is my birthday. I can't believe another one has come. Ugh! But, it certainly was a good one. A hand drawn card from my little man. A nice day at the park with lunch at Wendy's. And a nice homecooked meal, off the grill, from my hubby. Topped off with cannolis for dessert! YUM! My favorite.

So, enjoy a few cute pics. Some from today's dinner. The others are from this past Saturday. We went to Mike's cousin's house for her daughter Julia's first communion. Jake, Julia, and Logan are best buddies with Colby. He loves visiting with them. Although the day wasn't great, it did warm up enough, and stop raining long enough, to get the water shooters out that Aunt Nan brought. They had fun shooting eachother and Uncle Mark, the instigator! Yes, we started with our clothes on and ended up in undies!

Happy Mother's Day and Old Friends

We wish everyone a wonderful Happy Mother's Day. I am so blessed to have a wonderful son to celebrate this day with. It has not been the easiest of roads to becoming a mother, but I wouldn't trade our experience for anything else. We certainly have come a long way and today was our second Mother's Day together.

We went for a nice breakfast and then to my friend Kathleen's for her son Andrew's Baptism. It was nice to see some of my high school friends again, along with their families. Amazingly, most of us have children, and they are all boys! I hope that we will get together again soon. I see Kathleen more often than the rest. Hopefully that will change. I'd love for the boys to get to know eachother.

Hopefully everyone else had a wonderful Mother's Day too. And to those mothers in waiting, I wish you a short wait and I hope you are with your children soon.

Birthday Pics

I can't believe my little man is 3! Wow! And he definitely knows it. He'll tell you he's 3 and a big boy now. We had a small family dinner and ice cream cake on his birthday and then a party on Saturday with my family. We celebrated the family birthdays in April and May, which icluded both my brothers' Keith and Chris, mine, and Colby's. It was really fun. Then on Sunday we went to Mike's parents' for pizza and more rpesents with his family.

Here are a few picks of Saturday's party and a few of Colby fishing with Daddy and Grandpa. We bought him the fishing pole and tackle box he has been asking for for over a month now and he couldn't wait to try it out.
